The two stars, who play in the English Premier League are yet to clash in the Premier League, but they have already been pitched against each other in the CAF Best Player Award shortlist released last month.

Apart from Gabon and Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Senegal’s Sadio Mano (Southampton), all the other nominees have won the BBC award before and will be relishing the opportunity to win again following their nomination by journalists from 46 African countries.

Algeria’s Yacine Brahimi won it in 2014 while Toure (2013) and Dede Ayew won it in 2011.

The winner will be decided by African football fans, who have until 6:00pm on November 30, to vote for their choice.

The winner will be announced on Friday, 11 December 11 during a special live broadcast on both BBC World News and BBC World Service, with the BBC Sport and BBC Africa websites also carrying the announcement.

Voting can be done via SMS on phone to +44 7786 20 20 08 or on the BBC African football website.
