A young man fell seven flights of stairs to his death at rapper Reason’s birthday party this past weekend in the name of fun.

According to The Sowetan, young man, by the name Lawrence Ledimo, decided to slide down a railing and tragically lost his balance, plummeted down seven flights of stairs.

Pearl Thusi, who was hosting the party, revealed on Mo Flava’s show that after Reason had heard of the tragic passing of the young man, he immediately shut down the party.

“We thought Reason was joking and wanted some applause or something, but he came to me and told me what had happened. He really looked shocked about had happened. Big ups to him for cancelling the party immediately,” Pearl said.

After the party was immediately shut down, police arrived and cleared out the venue. According to the publication, Reason and his team went to the family to pay their respects and offer their support with regards to the funeral arrangements.

Kool Out Concepts, the organisation responsible for hosting the party, also issued a statement.

“It is with deep personal regret that we inform you of the death of one of our Koolin In The City Patron. Each of us at Kool Out Concepts not only grieves at the passing of an individual that is said to have been a huge fan of our movement but also for the loss his family suffers. At this time we cannot release any personal details about the deceased and ask that everyone respect the privacy of his loved ones at this difficult time,” the statement read.
