The organisation’s spokesperson, Borrie La Grange, says in the DRC, the Ebola outbreak has been confined to only one town, resulting in 17 deaths and 15 patients. He states that at least four samples taken on Sunday have tested positive.

Interviewed on SA Fm’s AM Live current affairs show, La Grange says: “it’s important to note Doctors without Borders has been working in DRC for last 30 years and has consistently responded to Ebola and other viral haemorrhagic fever outbreaks in the last 15 years.”

“We have resources and skills to deal with such epidemics in isolated and concentrated areas”

According to La Grange, Doctors without Borders definitely has the experience in isolating patients with confirmed Ebola or other viral haemorrhagic infections. “We have resources and skills to deal with such epidemics in isolated and concentrated areas.”

Doctors without Borders is to supply specialists to tackle the new Ebola virus outbreak in the DRC.
