KYOCERA Document Solutions once again has been recognised for their innovative product designs at the recently concluded Good Design Award 2016 held in Osaka, Japan in November. The Award was organised and hosted by the Japan Institute for Design Promotion (JDP); a public interest incorporated foundation, to highlight and celebrate the works of trendsetters from various industries in the area of product design.

One of the world’s leading manufacturers of document imaging solutions and document management systems, was honoured for the introduction of their new A4 multifunctional products (MFPs) and printers. They include the ECOSYS M5526cdw, ECOSYS P5026cdw, ECOSYS M2640idw and ECOSYS P2040dw. These products were recognised for their simplicity and compact design, which tidily fits on an office desktop. They were praised for their ease of use, low-noise operations and low-cost toner cartridge maintenance.

According to KYOCERA Document Solutions, the design of the products were carefully thought of, taking into consideration how businesses may be using these entry models of A4 Multifunctional printers in their offices.

The plain exterior and external look and feel is one that immediately communicates excellence; a design feature that won the admiration of the organisers. Users are assured of a clean desktop setup with no protrusions on the device’s casing.

For this new line of products, KYOCERA Document Solutions improves productivity by shortening I/O waiting times to ensure the speedy reception of work. Also, the standard wireless LAN functionality ensures flexible installation and allows users to connect from their desktops.

The judges at the event made it very clear how impressed they were with these new line of KYOCERA Multifunctional printers. In their statement, they said, “The products are characterised by their downsized design and low-noise operations, as well as by operational efficiency, incorporating a remote setting tool with many functions, including a batch setting capability. The casing is compact and the operation panel is clear and easy to use. The entire design, including operability and ease of maintenance, is well considered to ensure smooth documentation-related tasks.”

KDS Direct, a renowned KYOCERA Document Solutions partner and a leading supplier in South Africa, is proud to be associated with this new feat and will continue in its efforts to blaze the trail of the brand in the country. KYOCERA Document Solutions South Africa will be announcing the models that will be available and the expected launch dates in South Africa early in the new year.

About Good Design Award

The Good Design Award is a comprehensive design-promotion system that picks good design out of a variety of unfolding phenomena, and aims to enrich our lives, industries, and society as a whole by highlighting and celebrating these works. It is hosted by the Japan Institute for Design Promotion, a public interest incorporated foundation. It’s precursor, the Good Design Selection System (or G Mark System), was founded in 1957 by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (the current Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry), and has been engaged in this work for about 60 years. Submissions come from a wide range of fields, and roughly 1200 designs are recogniszed every year. Over 59 years, around 43,000 designs have been recognized by the awards. Recipients of a Good Design Award are granted use of the G Mark symbol, which has been an emblem of good design for over half a century.
