A gunman opened fire at travelers at Fort Lauderdale airport in Florida, killing at least 5 people and 8 people injured. The shooting happened in the baggage claim area of Terminal 2 of the airport. The terminal was immediately evacuated and the gunman has been arrested.
The suspected gunman who shot and killed five people at a Florida airport with a weapon collected from his checked baggage was reportedly an Iraq war veteran known to the US authorities, identified as Esteban Santiago.
According to report, the suspect was taken into custody after throwing his empty weapon down and lying spread-eagled on the ground. He had arrived in Fort Lauderdale from Anchorage on board a Delta flight with a gun in checked luggage, he went into the bathroom and loaded the gun and started shooting.
