A five-year-old boy shot and killed his 9months old baby brother.
Nine-month-old Corbin Wiederhold was shot in the head by his big brother as their mum Alexis turned her back for just a moment to put cartoons on for her other children.
She rushed upstairs to the bedroom when she heard a gun shot to see what has happened and was greeted by her five-year-old who said: “I’m sorry, Mom. I shot Corbin.”
On entering the room, Alexis saw a devastating scene, her baby son was bleeding.
She told NBC News: “I walked in and there was my baby, lying there, bleeding.”
“I had just hugged him in my arms five minutes before that.”
The heartbroken mother later learned that her five-year-old son had found his grandfather’s .22 caliber Magnum revolver – a weapon Alexis did not know her dad William Porter kept in the house.
She said her son is struggling to comprehend what has happened, adding: “His dad tried talking to him about it, but he doesn’t understand.”
She added that he may have fired the gun thinking it was “something off a TV show”.
