South African Music Award winner Shabangu, from the 1990s R&B boy band Twins, had been arrested and appeared in court yesterday in connection with the theft of a R1 million Porsche in Cape Town.
According to the Cape Argus, the singer was arrested, alongside his co-accused, last Friday after the luxury vehicle was found in their possession.
The pair were charged with the theft of the luxury vehicle in Seapoint, Cape Town and were remanded in custody.
According to the Cape Argus report by Warda Meyer and Natasha Prince, “Shabangu (has) been arrested at least 19 times, and (has) six previous convictions”.
In March 2012, Shabangu appeared in court with three other men in connection with a case of fraud.
Shabangu is once again in trouble with the law – this time, over a stolen Porsche.
On Monday, acting magistrate Grant Engel granted a postponement, saying the court had insufficient information on which to base a decision on bail.
