The actor who was driving a borrowed car allegedly failed to wait to receiver his R1500 fine for speeding RTI spokeswoman Zinhle Mngomezulu said.

“The officer managed to take down his details but then he ran away. He can be arrested because he failed to comply with the lawful instructions of an officer,” she said.

The incident happened shortly before 10am on Wednesday.

She said the officer had taken details of the licence and was inserting other details on the form, such as the date by when Twala needed to pay the fine, when Twala simply got in the car and drove off.

Mngomezulu said the officer, identified as Senior Traffic Inspector SP Dlamini, was told by Twala that “he was rushing for a meeting with our HOD [head of department]. I asked my HOD. He [the HOD] had no idea what I was talking about.”

She said that when the RTI tracked the vehicle’s owner, the owner said he “had an agreement” that Twala could use the vehicle.
