Thomas Blige, 63, is fighting for his life after he was stabbed three times, including one blow to the neck, allegedly by a former girlfriend following a domestic dispute at his home at the Arbors of Battle Creek, an apartment complex, in Michigan on Thursday (23.01.14).
Police were called to the crime scene at 6.58am, and when they arrived they found blood in the snow near the entrance drive, before discovering the victim in his apartment and the knife they believed was used in the attack.
Thomas was rushed to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he underwent emergency surgery on his injuries and remains in a critical condition. The 50-year-old former lover was detained by officers in her own home in the same complex after she was found wearing ”blood-splattered clothing”.
Detective Sgt. Jim Martens told the Battle Creek Enquirer that the incident occurred after Thomas saw his ex-girlfriend letting out the air from the tyres of his car, before he confronted her and was stabbed. It is then thought Thomas and the woman – who have had seven domestic violence complaints between them since August last year – returned to their own homes following the incident.
The woman was treated for a cut and has reportedly been charged with ”assault with the intent to murder”. She is expected to be arraigned today (24.01.14) in Calhoun County District Court in Michigan. Mary is yet to comment on the incident.[/full]
