A taxi driver who allegedly raped a 26 year old female passenger was caught and arrested 3 months after the incident.
The alleged rape incident occurred after the victim had boarded a taxi driven by the 35-year-old suspect on the Old Pretoria road during the night in January of this year.
It is reported that after a passenger had alighted from the taxi, the victim was the only remaining passenger. The taxi driver then drove to a spot near Lion Park Informal Settlement (Thabo Mbeki), where the victim was allegedly raped. After the incident, the woman escaped by throwing herself out of the taxi while it was in motion.
The woman from Lion Park spotted the suspect in a tavern last night at Muldersdrift and informed the police.
The suspect was detained during the early hours of this morning and will be charged with rape.
The suspect was amongst 64 suspects arrested in Operation Paseka in Diepsloot over the weekend.
