Johannesburg – Get ready to pinkify Joburg during breast cancer awareness month as Beauty Company, Avon Justine has announced that its 13th annual iThemba Walkathon breast cancer awareness event will take place on Sunday, 21 October at Marks Park in Johannesburg.

The announcement took place at a media launch at Summer Place in Johannesburg last week. In attendance were actresses Noluthando ‘Nolly’ Nqayi and Thandy Matlaila, fashion stylist/designer Mome Male and TV presenter Danine Naidoo.

Registrations are already open on www.ithembawalkathon.co.za and there are new features to make the process even more seamless, such as the ability to print your tickets at home or have them sent to your mobile phone.

With over 29 500 participants in 2017, the iThemba Walkathon is the largest breast cancer awareness event in the Avon world which consists of over 50 countries. The 2018 edition promises to be the best yet although it will be limited to just 30 000 participants.

All participants are required to pre-register on ithembawalkathon.co.za or through the iThemba Walkathon facebook page at just R145 per adult and R100 per child. Registrations can also be made on printed entry forms obtainable from participating Sportsman Warehouse stores.

When registering participants can also buy a Woman&Home magazine ribbon for only R30 which they can wear while walking and then dedicate on the Trees of Hope. This will be the fourth time participants can dedicate their messages on the Tree of Hope, an immensely emotional part of the iThemba Walkathon.

Quite importantly participants can also select additional services such as the park-and-ride when they register helping to ensure they have a seamless experience throughout including on the morning of the event. “ We want participants to have a positively emotional experience that will reinforce their support of the breast cancer crusade not just through the iThemba Walkathon but by also spreading potentially life-saving breast cancer information on the issue,” said Vicky Saunders-Flaherty, Avon Justine Communications & Events Manager.
