Khensani Maseko, a Rhodes University student who was raped in May by her then boyfriend, committed suicide after suffering from depression.
Khensani Maseko, a 3rd year law student, served in the SRC at Rhodes University alumnus and was a member of the Economic Freedom Fighters. Maseko reportedly committed suicide at her family’s home in Johannesburg on Friday afternoon because she couldn’t live with the psychological effect the rape left on her.
Tributes have been pouring in for the young woman on social media, with most posts reiterating the message that “no woman deserves to be raped”.
