The 2018 Durban Fashion Fair ‘New Faces’ Models are nearly ready for their close ups!

Must read

As the excitement is building for the annual Durban Fashion Fair (DFF) 2018 where over 50 designers – including nine from other African countries – will take to the ramp in 15 shows at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre, between Wednesday, September 19th to Friday, September 21st, they are preparing to make their marks in the wonderful world of fashion.

The shows will be followed by the DFF Recognition Awards Show on Saturday, September 22nd which honour and recognise the top designers and models taking part in this year’s DFF 2018. The DFF 2018 will also be taking place alongside the Durban Business Fair which is celebrating its 20 year anniversary.

Presented by the eThekwini Municipality as part of its successful Fashion Development Programme, the DFF is now in its seventh year of wowing designers, the media, fashion buyers and the public. It brings out the very best in local fashion with top class shows that allow local creative’s to strut their stuff alongside the best in the world.

Back Row (L-R): Ntando Shandu, Sthembiso Bhengu, Lindokuhle Jobe, Dimitri Kalamoudacos, Mfundo Ngidi, Bulelani Thabethe, John Khambule
Front Row (L-R): Connor Wilson, Vusumuzi Makhathini, Ntokozo Sibiya

To discover hidden talents that can put Durban on the fashion map as well as ensure that, when it comes to design, Durban is a top contender, the eThekwini Municipality has invested substantial sums in internships, industry related training programmes, networking sessions and various lifestyle and modelling programmes and boot camps. The current “crop” of new faces are evidence of just how effective this has been.

These models, which were scouted throughout the greater eThekwini Municipality, have been provided with invaluable training over two months – from runway skills, posing and posture presentation and photographic editorial techniques to posture and poise, all things “model etiquette”. This will give them the tools to reach for their dreams and take full advantage of the opportunity to participate in a high profile fashion show such as the DFF.
