South Africa’s largest regional radio station hosted the 3rd Annual Gagasi FM Shero Awards this weekend which recognises and honours women who are making a significant difference in their communities.
The awards are driven through a call to action from the public to submit their entries naming those women who they believe deserve to be nominated.
The nominees are then selected from the entries received by a panel of judges and independently audited.
There were a number of categories and one such being the Public Service category which was awarded to CEO Dr Stella Khumalo of uShaka Marine World.
Just recently Dr Stella Khumalo was also the recipient of the KZN Top Business Awards as well as having won the 2016 Business Women’s Association (BWA) Regional Business Achiever Award in the government category in recognition of both her leadership and the role that she has played in the success of uShaka as a business in its own right.
Speaking shortly after the awards ceremony, excited CEO, Stella Khumalo, was overwhelmed and thanked her entire management team and all employees for all their support, dedication as well as their contribution.
“These awards are also particularly special due to the fact that members of the public vote. It is not just a feather in my cap for but uShaka Marine World as a brand.
It is also humbling based on the fact that I was chosen amongst two high performing nominees for whom I have great respect.”
Khumalo added, “I also know that without my team and their efforts in making uShaka Marine World the world class venue that it is I would not have been here to receive this award, and they not only inspire me to go the extra mile, but the uShaka team as well!.”
