Jay-Z, Beyonce get 10 nominations between them at BET awards

Jay-Z and Beyonce finally have something to smile about this week – with 10 nominations between them, for June 29’s BET Awards.

[full]The nominees were announced today, and see the pair joined by rapper Drake- who was also nominated five times.

Mafikizolo will fly the South African flag, after they were nominated alongside Nigerian Davido, Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Sarkodie (Ghana), Tiwa Savage (Nigeria), and Toofan of Togo.

Elsewhere, Drake, Future, J.Cole, and Kendrick Lamar will try and wrestle the Best Male Hip Hop Artists gong from veteran Jay-Z, while Rihanna and Beyoncé face-off for the Best Female R&B/Pop Artist category, which also features Janelle Monae, Jhené Aiko, K.Michelle, and Tamar Braxton.

The BET Awards 2014 will be staged at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, on June 29. They will then premiere on BET International in Africa on 1 July at 9pm.
