Grammy nominated rapper, J.I.D has returned with a blockbuster single titled “Surround Sound” featuring fellow Atlanta heroes 21 Savage and Baby Tate. Produced by Christo and DJ Scheme, “Surround Sound” hits all the markers of what broke the Atlanta rapper on the scene initially — a chokehold of ‘the pen’ and talent for rapid fire word play which if not paid attention to can go over one’s head. The track also breaks down at the 2:29 mark for a flow switch up — another J.I.D specialty — allowing room for the Dreamville artist to be braggadocious. The song came accompanied by a Mac Grant and Chad Tennies directed music video that perfectly spotlights all three artists at the forefront of their verse. The song release comes at the heels of J.I.D being included on the Coachella lineup for 2022. This will be the artist’s debut Coachella performance.

“ENEMY” (title song for Netflix series Arcane League of Legends) is currently in the top 10 of Billboard Global 200 while climbing up the Billboard Hot 100 charts (currently #48). “ENEMY” has racked up a cumulative 15 million views on Youtube, seeing a spike after the group performed the song live on the MTV Europe Music Awards
(watch here). Alongside this, J.I.D has been busy collaborating with peers from across genres lending his rap stylings of Grammy nominated project Planet Her by Doja Cat (“Options”) as well as the likes of Dua Lipa
(“Not My Problem”), Khalid
(“All I Feel Is Rain”), James Blake
(“Frozen”) and more.
About J.I.D
Born and raised in East Atlanta, Grammy nominated J.I.D grew up on his parents’ collection of classic funk/soul LPs, and broke onto the scene with his 2015 EP, DiCaprio. The EP saw him collaborating with hip-hop duo EARTHGANG, whom he’d previously joined on a 2014 tour also including Bas and Ab-Soul. This is where he was spotted by J.Cole who promptly signed J.I.D to his Interscope Records venture, Dreamville Records. Soon after signing to Dreamville, J.I.D made his major-label debut with the widely celebrated The Never Story (2017). The effort was closely followed by the critically acclaimed album DiCaprio 2 (2018) which received major looks from Rolling Stone, Billboard, NPR and more. In 2019, J.I.D continued his momentum as rap’s most exciting additions with stellar contributions on Dreamville’s Platinum certified compilation Revenge of the Dreamers III which went on to debut #1 on the Billboard Top 200 charts and received multiple GRAMMY nominations including “Best Rap Album” and “Best Rap Performance.” J.I.D’s nimble, head-nodding lyricism and lightning fast flow has awarded him a loyal and cult-like fanbase who have joined the rapper at countless sold out shows across the globe. A mainstay on the festival circuit, J.I.D has brought down arena-level crowds at Lollapalooza, Laneway Festival and venues across the world. Not much seems out of reach for this Atlanta native who’s rise to superstardom seems almost imminent.
