Ariose sings about life-changing moments in new power ballad

Must read

Ariose, a passion project established in October 2020 by three talented musicians, has already delivered two very successful hits – Bly Jy Hier and Jy.

Now the trio is back with a brand-new single… just in time for Valentine’s Day.

SAAM MET JOU was written by the group’s male vocalist, Xander Filmalter and produced by their talented guitar player, Renier Henning. As always, Heidi Henning also did her part to create an amazing end-result.

“To me, the song is about that moment when you are standing in front of the love of your life and realise that nothing will ever be the same again, no matter what happens in the future,” Xander explains. “I see a four-year-old boy in his Batman costume diving across the couch every time the neighbour’s daughter comes over or the groom struggling to control his emotions when he looks into his bride’s eyes. Of course, each moment is surrounded by a bigger story, but somewhere between disappointments and victories, there comes a point when two people realize how far they have come because they had each other.”

Even though the track boasts deep lyrics, they believe that it will resonate with audiences of all ages and that listeners will enjoy its positive energy and catchy melody.

According to Renier, he always knew that this was a song that needed to be heard: “The chorus, which ends with ‘ek is soveel meer hier saam met jou (I am so much more here with you)’ makes you want to pull your wife closer and remind yourself of why you chose her in the first place. I hope it will have the same effect on everyone who listens to it, because after all, it is always nice to listen to a song that makes your arm hair stand on end with delight.”

Heidi agrees that this duet came together like the pieces of a puzzle to create the perfect end result. “Love is such an exciting journey and I think we have managed to capture it with this song,” she says.

The music video was filmed and produced by the group themselves and was created in Renier’s imagination long before it was captured on camera. It has a fairy tale theme and was shot at a location that is close to Xander’s heart.

“I think nature/ the forest is a metaphor for most relationships. It’s wild and wonderful, but you can get lost and never know what to expect,” Xander shares. “The hiking trail where the video was filmed is a place where my dogs and I go to escape from everyday life and is very special to me.”

Renier adds: “I have always wanted to shoot a music video with winding roads, tall trees, and light shining through the branches from above. The fairy tale theme in this song allowed us to do just that. The overall look and feel of the video, was inspired by a typical scene of a princess running through the forest in true Brothers Grimm fashion.”

Over the past two years, Ariose has learned a lot about the music industry and enjoys hearing their music on the radio, seeing their videos on TV and chatting with various journalists and radio broadcasters… but this is only the beginning. In addition to their separate ventures (Xander’s solo career and Renier and Heidi’s gospel group King’s Collective), they still have a lot planned for the future.

“2021 was a difficult year and a lot of our plans never materialized. We are, however, currently working on four or five new songs and music videos and are busy preparing for live shows. 2022 feels like an opportunity to reset and do things differently,” says Renier.

Ariose’s goal has always been to produce high-quality Afrikaans music and SAAM MET JOU is a good example of what they had in mind.

“It is feel-good pop song that people can listen to in their cars, homes and at social events. It has a catchy tune and meaningful lyrics that anyone who has ever been in love will understand,” Xander concludes.
