Kriya Gangiah Played Host At The 2022 Kyalami 9 Hour

Johannesburg, 8 February 2022
The Kyalami 9 Hour took place this weekend (3-5 February) as the final round of the 2021 Intercontinental GT Challenge – Powered by Pirelli, having previously visited Europe (Spa 24 Hour) and the USA (Indianapolis 8 Hour).

The event took place at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit and was hosted by local radio and television presenter Kriya Gangiah where she presented both inserts on the Kyalami 9 Hour social media pages as well as the live broadcast on SuperSport.

Being a massive petrolhead herself, Kriya explains that she was thrilled to blend her passion for broadcasting and motorsport together at this event. “Anyone who knows me knows just how much I love anything and everything to do with fast cars – and hosting the Kyalami 9 Hour was a dream come true,” Kriya says.

She adds “It was really special to see the ins and outs of what makes this iconic racing event work and bring that knowledge to viewers during the event. What a way to kick off 2022!”

The 9 Hour race has a long history at Kyalami with the first race being hosted at the circuit’s inaugural meeting held on the 4th of November 1961. The 9 Hour race was hosted at Kyalami until the mid-1980’s with many races won by Ferrari and Porsche amongst other great racing marques. Drivers contested the 9 Hour from all around the world with race winners including David Piper, Derek Bell and Jacky Ickx. The return of the race to Kyalami in 2019 has ensured that the mystic and heritage, that made the 9 Hour and international success, continues for a new generation to experience and enjoy.
