THE KZN FILM COMMISSION COMMEMORATES THE LOVE MONTH IN STYLE
The KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission in partnership with the King Cetshwayo Municipality and the Durban Film Office will offer the public and stakeholders an evening of love in commemoration of the Love Month. Dubbed the Film and Love Sunset Picnic Screening /#KZNFilmandLove , the event will be held at the Botanical Gardens on the 19th of February, and on the 26th of February in uMhlathuze Local Municipality.
The days will not only celebrate love, but will also take film to the people, highlight the partners’ collaborations and films, enhancing the KZN film industry image.
On the menu for the two evenings, the partners have planned a relaxing atmosphere where guests will be treated to delicious food, music and most importantly, will get to see KwaZulu-Natal produced films.
“The 14th of February is universally celebrated as the month of love, and as the KwaZulu Natal Film Commission, we decided to bring our stakeholders together in celebrating this important day on the calendar. Film and love are always attuned, this being demonstrated in some of the stories the film industry tells. It is therefore befitting for us and our partners to bring this experience to the people of KwaZulu-Natal and the industry,” says Carol Coetzee, KZN Film Commission CEO.
“The Durban Film Office is grateful to partner with stakeholders for this event. Indeed, it will be a perfect evening of romantic indulgence where guests will enjoy our films and be serenaded by local, pure talent,” says Sharon Ngcobo Durban Film Office Manager.
The Richards Bay event will be held in collaboration with the King Cetshwayo District Municipality and its local municipalities (City of Umhlathuze, Umlalazi Local Municipality, Umfolozi Local Municipality, Nkandla Local Municipality, and Mthonjani Local Municipality). Speaking about the event, the King Cetshwayo Acting Municipal Manager Mr. Philani Sibiya said, “We are excited about this partnership, and we hope that it will continue for a long time. Our aim is to take film to the people, therefore why not do this by going to uMhlathuze Beach, one of the most beautiful spaces at which we always look forward to hosting the people of KwaZulu Natal.”
The public have been allocated seats (in line with covid restrictions) in each event, thus space will be given on a first come first served basis as sets are limited. An email should be sent to [email protected] to register as a guest.
