JACARANDA FM DISCOVERS EXCITING NEW RADIO TALENT IN LIMPOPO

Meet Mzansi’s latest audio star | Manani Botes

19 December 2022, Johannesburg Jacaranda FM recently launched an exciting presenter search campaign with a specific focus on unearthing radio broadcast talent in Limpopo.

With the station’s strong presence across Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and the North West Province – Jacaranda FM wanted to discover and develop local talent to deliver hyper-local content that resonates with their regional community.

“We were looking for a curious story teller who can connect with our diverse listener landscape and I’m very excited to say – we found her!” says Jacaranda FM Programming Manager, Hennie Myburgh.

Manani Botes was one of the hopeful participants who recorded a demo at The Mall of The North in Polokwane in October, and after impressing the Jacaranda FM team with her warm and interesting approach, she became the winner of the presenter search campaign.

When asked why she believes she was the best person to plug into the local culture of the province, Manani said “I was born and bred into the Tsonga culture in Limpopo province, I was raised in an Afrikaans home, went to a Sotho school, and married into a Coloured community. I define myself as a culturally diverse woman who loves to connect with different people from different cultures. Limpopo has such rich diversity and so much more to celebrate and I’m excited to be part of that journey.”

When Botes got the call to say that she had been selected as Jacaranda FM’s new regional presenter tears filled her eyes. “I was so overwhelmed, I had just come back from holiday, and I literally screamed with joy at the airport. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and winning the presenter search showed me that my dreams are still valid! My dad took me to the station when I was 16 years old, I vowed then that I would be part of this amazing radio station – and here I am, living the dream,” adds Botes.

Regional Jacaranda FM listeners can tune in and listen to Manani between 12h00 and 16h00, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
