NEIMIL RELEASES NEW FASHION & HOMEWARE COLLECTION
In a launch partnership with Stella Artois, the SA lifestyle brand’s “MeadowBloom” collection speaks of renewal in Afro modern style.
Johannesburg, November 6th, 2023 – Award-winning designer, Keneilwe Mathoe, unveiled “MeadowBloom”, a new capsule fashion and homeware collection from lifestyle brand Neimil, at a launch event in Johannesburg, on Friday.
Founded by Keneilwe and photographer Lubabalo Mxalisa in 2018, South African-based Neimil focusses on interior design, fashion, and art. In 2021, Neimil also collaborated with H&M Home on a collection.
In partnership with Stella Artois, the celebratory launch event included a round table luncheon along with music from DJs Siviwe, Buhle, AfricanRhythms and Scott the Girl.
“MeadowBloom” installations, meanwhile, were set up within the gardens of Beechwood House in Hyde Park, a perfect backdrop for the Afro modern-styled fashion and homeware collection, itself inspired by sprawling green fields, rolling meadows and the promise of new beginnings.
“MeadowBloom is an ode to life and growth and healing; a reminder that a brand-new start will blossom just as flowers do in the spring,” says Keneilwe. “There is an open meadow at home in Mpumalanga where many go to pray and just connect again with nature and observe the long grass swaying in the distance. This sense of tranquillity and serenity evoked a sense of nostalgia and renewal in me and inspired the designs.”
Characterised by flowing silhouettes, the soft textures and delicate embellishments of the men’s and womenswear evoke the timeless beauty and vibrant hues of nature, capturing the essence of spring in the textured twinsets and lightweight jackets. Equally evocative of renewal, pieces from the homeware collection included scatter cushions, cutlery and crockery, sideboards, and accessories in shades of blue with pops of colour.
