anticipation as we gear up for an unparalleled comedy extravaganza. The Savanna,
Showmax Laugh Africa Comedy Festival, a landmark event in Africa’s comedy scene, is
thrilled to announce that the internationally acclaimed comedian Eddie Griffin is set to
headline this year’s festival. From the 5th – 7th April 2024, the Sandton Convention
Centre will transform into a hub of laughter and festivity.
Savanna Premium Cider and Showmax, the proud collaborators of this laugh riot, are
bringing together an exceptional lineup of comedic talent. Eddie Griffin, the multifaceted
African American comedian and actor, is known for his electrifying stage presence and
unique style. With an illustrious career spanning across stand-up specials and over 50
film appearances, Griffin’s participation is a testament to the festival’s grandeur.
A Blend of Familiar Faces and Fresh Talent
The Laugh Africa Comedy Festival isn’t just about the big names. Over 50 comedians
across three diverse genres – English, Vernacular, and Afrikaans – will take the stage. The
festival is a melting pot of styles and stories, featuring local favorites like Tumi Morake,
Alfred Adriaan, Mashabela, Chris Mapane and many more. And for the first time in South
Africa, social media comedy sensations will join the traditional stand-up acts, adding a
modern twist to the comedic lineup.
A Roast to Remember
In addition to the chuckles and belly laughs, the festival will host a comedy roast of a
