Benoni-based EDM producer Tim Bouwers, known by his stage name Undertone, has unveiled his most ambitious project to date with the release of his single Open Spaces. The track, accompanied by a visually stunning lyric video, invites listeners on a sonic and visual journey celebrating the vast, untamed beauty of our planet.
“Open Spaces” showcases Undertone’s signature ability to craft dynamic soundscapes. Taking 90 hours to complete, the track is a masterclass in intricate production, blending pitch-shifting and tremolo effects. Within its 3.5-minute runtime, Open Spaces evolves with constant shifts and changes while staying grounded by a driving bassline that provides cohesion and energy.
“The track is about appreciating our beautiful world. Despite over 8 billion people sharing this planet, it’s still full of open spaces,” Bouwers explains. “Mother Nature isn’t concerned with us—she’s still in charge.”
The accompanying lyric video, now available on YouTube, enhances the theme with breathtaking footage of South Africa’s Pilanesberg Game Reserve and other natural landscapes. Through artistic visuals, including skies that shift from blue to green, the video emphasizes the accessibility and enjoyment of nature across land, sea, and air.
