His Excellency Vice President Paul Mashatile Visits the BAPS Hindu Mandir and Cultural Complex for the Grand Welcome Ceremony of His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj


Johannesburg, South Africa – 27 January 2025 His Excellency Vice President Paul Mashatile will visit the BAPS Hindu Mandir (Temple) and Cultural Complex in Northriding, Johannesburg, on Thursday, 30 January 2025, to participate in the Grand Welcome Ceremony of His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, the global spiritual leader of BAPS. The programme time is 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, followed by a formal press meet.
The welcome event draws inspiration from both Indian and African cultures. It marks a historic moment as South Africa welcomes His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, who will preside over the
inaugural celebrations of the BAPS Hindu Mandir and Cultural Complex, the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. This landmark project stands as a symbol of hope, unity, and
cultural harmony, bringing together people from all walks of life.
Vice President Paul Mashatile’s visit underscores the significance of interfaith dialogue, cultural preservation, and the contributions of South Africa’s Indian community.
The BAPS Hindu Mandir and Cultural Complex is a spiritual and cultural beacon, blending Indian and African art and traditions. Built with the efforts of hundreds of volunteers, it represents a lasting
investment in South Africa’s multicultural landscape.
Fostering hope and unity through multicultural exchange and interreligious dialogue, the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS), a renowned global sociospiritual organization, will host a spectacular 12-day Festival of Hope and Unity to mark the grand opening of its newest South African landmark in February 2025. The Festival will also be attended by
a number of ministers, deputy ministers, members of the judiciary, religious and community leaders, as well as corporate and business leaders.
