New FREE SADAG Mental Health Support Group Launch for People Living with Disabilities
A safe space where people are seen beyond their disability
Mental Health is often overlooked when it comes to people living with disabilities despite the unique challenges they face. The South African Depression and Anxiety (SADAG) is launching a FREE Online Mental Health Support Group for People Living with Disabilities to offer a supportive space to connect, share experiences, and get advice and support from others who truly understand.

This Group recognises that people with disabilities often face Mental Health issues because of stigma, limited resources, and accessibility issues. These difficulties can leave individuals feeling isolated, misunderstood and lonely. The online Support Group will meet on the 1st Tuesday of every month, with the first meeting launching on Tuesday, 1 April 2025 at 6pm.
Alexandra, who will be running this Support Group shares: “I want to create a space where people can explore the specific ways disabilities impact Mental Health. This Group is about acknowledging those nuances and providing a platform for shared experiences.”
“The purpose of this Group is to create an inclusive space where people can come together to share their experiences, offer support, and connect on a deeper level. It’s about seeing each person beyond their disability. I hope to build a community where members feel comfortable sharing their challenges and strategies for navigating life without fear of judgement. By doing so, we can create a sense of belonging and foster a space where everyone can gain new perspectives and grow together,” says Alexandra.
