After serenading his female fans with smooth lyrics and ear-pleasing melodies on his previous single, ’Ring on You’, Adelani is back with another classic!
The London born Nigerian hit maker finally drops the much anticipated explosive banger “Baba Loke” after weeks of teasing the song on his social media platforms.
The smash hit is an anthemic hustler’s prayer for a change in fortune; it is a sweet concoction of soulful harmonies and heartfelt lyrics over a scorching hot beat.
Produced by David Mutanda, “Baba Loke” also boasts a special guest appearance from rising Afro Pop sensation Deniyi. With his smooth, velvety vocals on the song’s chorus, Deniyi sings a passionate prayer for prosperity.
“Gbemi soke baba o, make my money start from six figures. Gbemi soke Oluwa, make my hustle start to pay double,” he can be heard singing in Yoruba & Pidgin English.
This prayerful plea for wealth echoes through Adelani’s verses as he flawlessly sing-raps about personal struggle & lavish dreams. Along with the solid production quality, the lyrics on his first verse drifts one back to his past before his verse exquisitely transcends into his present-day aspirations.
“Started from the bottom on the block there/ Middle of the Ghetto ye the block there/ Hustle for the mula on the block there/Nobody thought I’ll make it on the block there/ we don’t need no stress/ all we need is cheques / Jah Lord,” the Joburg based star chants before the beat captivatingly softens then builds up slowly with Gqom pounding drums.
This high-spirited record is certainly relevant to everyone struggling to make a living in these pandemic-ridden times. Baba Loke is yet again proof that great art is usually born from the womb & wounds of struggle & pain.
