African Gold Extra Virgin Olive Oil Celebrates South African Flavours in New Cookbook

Must read

As a brand that is all about shining a light on local produce, African Gold Extra Virgin Olive Oil is thrilled to announce the launch of its new cookbook. The Savouring South Africa cookbook is free to download and a celebration of local flavours and produce, featuring recipes for breakfasts, snacks, side dishes, main meals and, of course, desserts – all with a touch of local flavour and a drizzle of delicious African Gold Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

“Each bottle of African Gold Extra Virgin Olive Oil represents our passion for uplifting local farmers through showcasing their incredible extra virgin olive oil,” says Marizeth Kleynhans, the Brand Manager for African Gold.

The olives used in African Gold, a blend of 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil, are sourced solely from local farms. “As it says on the bottle, our oil is ‘Only locally made, ever!’ So, naturally, we’re inspired by all things local, and we’re hoping that our customers find plenty of delicious inspiration within the cookbook’s pages, and of course a host of different ways to use our African Gold Extra Virgin Olive Oil in their kitchen,” says Marizeth.

Within the cookbook’s pages you’ll find recipes for hearty breakfasts, such as Breakfast Strata with Cheese and Sausage and Chakalaka Shakshuka, and tasty side dishes that include Focaccia and a Spiced Cabbage Salad. Flavourful main meals include a Curried Pumpkin Seed Pesto Pasta and Braaied Lamb Chops with Mint Sauce, while snacks feature Biltong and Olive Tapenade Bruschetta and Rooibos-infused Hummus. Last, but certainly not least, don’t forget to try the Spiced Olive Oil Chocolate Truffles as well as the quick-to-make Crumbled Koeksister Ice Cream Sundae.

And of course, the perfect companion for all these meals is African Gold Extra Virgin Olive Oil. It is perfectly balanced and medium to intense in flavour, with a fresh, green aromatic fruitiness, distinct pepperiness, and pleasantly bitter notes.
