Ajuda Announces Exciting Partnership with St John’s College, Johannesburg

Must read

Johannesburg, March25: You know the anxiety of sitting in a doctor’s reception area with your child, knowing you’re about to be asked about their medical history – and you’re going to have to admit that you either can’t remember it all or are unsure of where to find the information? Good news: It’s soon to be a thing of the past.

Ajuda, a South African Healthtech company leading the way in patient-centric digital storage of medical records through its secure health vault, has announced an exciting partnership with St John’s College in Johannesburg. This announcement marks yet another milestone in the company’s quest to empower people to take control of their health and their family’s health. It also lays the foundation for similar school partnerships nationwide in the near future.

No more hunting through boxes, drawers and cavernous handbags

The partnership with St John’s ties in with Ajuda’s original purpose: to make it simple for parents to keep track of their children’s medical records. Founded by two moms, Taryn Uhlmann, a business executive and Dr Liza Street, a Paediatrician, Ajuda provides a central, secure storage destination for all medical records that adheres to healthcare best practice guidelines laid out by the HPCSA and POPIA. Ajuda allows parents to access their child’s information anytime, anywhere through their digital device.

However, the storage facility itself is only one aspect of the convenience that Ajuda provides.  Through collaborations with strategic partners, Uhlmann and Street are building an ecosystem where users’ medical records are automatically uploaded to Ajuda as soon as they’ve had a medical test, screening, diagnosis or medication prescribed. This is where school partnerships are key.

Complete records, zero admin for parents

“During their school career, children have numerous health screenings done through the school,” says Dr Street. “With these results automatically uploaded to the child’s Ajuda vault, parents no longer have to worry about losing the paper result or scrolling through their emails to find an email from an Audiologist or Occupational Therapist whose name they’ve long forgotten.”

St John’s provides a holistic education from nursery school all the way through to Matric and A-Levels, from St John’s Bridge Nursery School through the Pre-Prep, Prep, College and Sixth Form. As of this year, health screenings, such as hearing screenings, done via the school will be uploaded to the child’s profile on Ajuda. Parents will have instant access to their child’s records via the school app, enabling them to access the information whenever they need it. It will also enable them to view trends and patterns in their child’s health over time.

“And the best part: If you emigrate, semigrate or move from a prep school to high school, your results go with you as your child’s Ajuda account never changes,” says Dr Street. “Ajuda is your healthcare partner through life.”

Working together to make life easier

The partnership between Ajuda and St John’s has been made possible through My App Zone – an app development company that has created bespoke apps for more than 50 of the country’s top schools. “The school app will have a link, directing parents to their child’s health results, along with access to Ajuda’s other features, all directly via the school app,” explains Uhlmann.

“We’re looking forward to making parents’ lives much easier by integrating Ajuda into the St John’s College School App,” says Mr Lester Lalla, Preparatory School Headmaster.

The school appreciates the value of Ajuda for both the parents and children and has no doubt it will make a huge difference. “It marks a unique take on the interdependent relationship between education and healthcare to ensure the holistic well-being of children and the stress-free management of children’s well-being for parents,” says Uhlmann.
