AKA and K.O have told rapper Cassper Nyovest to shove his peace offering

In a new twist of the beef between local rap’s biggest stars, Cassper offered to do a collaboration with AKA and K.O.

But both quickly declined, saying they were not available for any further collaborations “this year”.

AKA said instead of Cassper going public with the olive branch it would be “cool” if he contacted him directly. The Doc Shebeleza hitmaker, who scooped three awards at the recent Channel O Africa Music Awards, voiced his desire to work with his rivals on social media network Twitter. Cassper said he approached the two rappers’ managements with the idea of a collaboration but didn’t speak to the artists themselves.

AKA told Sowetan: “I am not interested in doing collaborations right now at this point of the year.

“I pretty much have plans set out for the rest of the year in terms of pushing my album and my song with Burna Boy, Da L.E.S and JR [All Eyes on Me].

“In terms of the future and what might happen, you never know.”

As for the peace pipe offered and whether the bad blood between him and Cassper was over, AKA was dismissive: “I wouldn’t say we are cool. I haven’t spoken to him. He needs to give me a call first.”

In one of their previous altercations an associate of AKA pulled a firearm on Cassper in the make-up room of Urban Brew Studios in Randburg earlier this year.

K.O, who topped MTVBase Hottest Rappers List for 2014, also brushed aside Cassper’s call to work together.

“My focus right now is promoting my album [Skhanda Republic], which just came out. I do not think at this point in time I am in a good space to do collaborations. Again, he did not come up to me in person. That is something he said estrateni (in the streets) so I do not take that to heart.”

K.O said Cassper did not approach his camp about doing a collaboration. Cassper still waved the white flag saying he wanted to reach out to encourage peace and unity among his peers.

“It woul d be cool if we [are] united,” he said. I mean I have done things… we are all responsible for whatever is going on. I just wanted to take [the] initiative to make sure while I still have the power that I have and [while] still younger, I take mature steps.

“I am just waiting for them [AKA and K.O] to digest it [the collaboration idea] . The management seemed keen, but it is just up to the guys really. I would like us to combine our empires. It will do justice to South African hip-hop.”
