Altitude Beach is fast becoming one of my favorite hangout spots in Gauteng!
It sure has an exquisite ambience perfect for summer nights and breathtaking views to revel in – even on cold winter evenings.
Last night, I had a marvelous time in the mist of stars gathered to celebrate the launch of a new retractable roof above the illustrious venue and an improved menu.
I started my ‘personal celebrations’ by licking salt off the back of my hand, downing a shot of tequila swiftly before sucking on a wedge of lime. A stellar collection of wine, cocktails and a wide selection of starters, platters, seafood and meaty grills circulated around the exotic open air lounge as we enjoyed the sweet groove of a beautiful live Jazz performance by Kitchen Mess and the band.
“Tonight is about us launching our new retractable roof. It gives us a different angle to operate during winter and when it rains” explained one of the owners of Altitude Beach, Ricardo Di Costa.
“This roof is just one layer of what this venue is able to do. We opened in November 2019 and we had to close in March 2020 because of Covid. Then we eventually re-opened and we couldn’t do so at full capacity because of the pandemic restrictions. This venue hasn’t even had a honeymoon phase yet – It hasn’t even shown its full potential. This roof is one building block to really establish ourselves as a unique social place; something that gives people the right coverage when it’s cold or when it’s raining. It is on a beautiful day when Altitude Beach really shows how beautiful it is. We haven’t even begun and we are not going anywhere,” he confidently concluded.
With all the plans in place to improve Altitude Beach,I will surely be back for more Tequila shots under it’s retractable roof.
