The sensational Ghanaian-American polymath Amaarae gives the world what it’s been waiting for – an official video for her sizzling viral sensation, ‘SAD GIRLZ LUV MONEY Remix‘ featuring the euphonious tones of the inimitable Colombian-American artist Kali Uchis and the whispery vocals of fellow Ghanaian-American Moliy. Featuring AmaaraeKali Uchis and a digital cameo from Moliy, this Remi Laudat directed video is a high-tech, high fashion realisation of Amaarae’s ‘Bad Bitchez/Sad Girlz of Wall Street’ vision – declaring female financial independence, empowerment and wealth. A hypercolor aesthetic feast you will want to watch over and over again, this video nods to symbols of money, power and women through the lush green and purple tones, an iconic dalmatian scene and an army of sad girlz ready to wreak havoc on any men getting in their way.

Boasting over 220M+ global streams (charted on Spotify Top 200 Chart in 60 countries – including #18 in the Global Chart, #28 in the UK and Top 40 in the US), charting on main Apple Music All Genre Chart in 133 countries – including #12 in UK and Top 50 in US, with 3.3m Shazams, the remix has seen a peak at #1 on the Global Shazam Chart and #1 in the US#29 in the UK TOP 40 Singles Chart, as well currently peaking at #35 on US Rhythmic Radio Chart. Over 7M video creations on Tik Tok later, #22 on the Global Spotify Chartplaylisted across national radio (BBC Radio 1 B List, BBC 1Xtra, Kiss FM, Kiss Fresh, Capital Xtra, Apple Music 1), a Mugler soundtrack and more, since October 2021 this single has been experiencing a genuinely organic moment of viral global recognition that shows no sign of slowing down.

Taken from Amaarae’s critically acclaimed debut full length project THE ANGEL YOU DON’T KNOW (+58M streams), this new version recorded in August sees Kali add her silvery bilingual statement of intent on this edgy female empowerment anthem –“I’m that bitch on & off of the cameras. Type of bitch few people can handle & I walk like I know my pussy dangerous”. A match made in a global sounding contemporary pop heaven, ‘SAD GIRLS LUV MONEY’ (FEAT. KALI UCHIS & MOLIY) is the perfect blend of afro-pop with a Latin twist – further cementing Amaarae’s place as the world’s new favourite pop star amongst fans and fellow artists alike.   Speaking on the single, Amaarae says:

’SAD GIRLZ LUV MONEY was already a magical song with Myself and Moliy but Kali takes it to a new dimension! I’m excited to have her on the remix, I’ve loved her music since she first appeared on the scene with Drunken Babble so to be able to work on this with her was amazing and she kills her verse! I think the Sad Girlz Worldwide are going to LOVE this!’

Kali adds:
“I love this song so much and was honored when Ama asked me to be a part of this. She deserves all the success and blessings coming her way”

Moliy adds:
“I loved how effortless the collab with Amaarae was. There was so much great girl power in the studio that day and that helped the record become what it is. The lyrics I used in the song reflect where I am in life right now. I just want to focus on the money and my dreams and real love. My favorite line was slightly inspired by Rihanna’s Bitch better have my money “Get the F out of my way I’m gonna get paid yea.” It’s a happy song about a young woman who wants to get paid, have fun, and party so no one should get in the way of that.

Since the release of the original track’s lo-fi, high fashion Yinka Soda directed official video in Spring 2021, Amaarae hasn’t stopped. In between studio sessions from LA to Nashville and Lagos working on her next record, she’s also featured on Tiwa Savage‘s ‘Tales By Moonlight‘ and CKay’s ‘Show My Side‘. As 2021 drew to a close, Amaarae finished up her highly anticipated ‘THE CRAZY WURLD‘ tour. First hitting a handful of the US’s most prestigious stages including Pitchfork Music Festival in ChicagoThe Governer’s Ball in New York and The Roxy in LA alongside Tems, this tour took her to Europe in November where she performed at YES in Manchester (01/11), two sold out dates at COLORS in London (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️  The Telegraph) and Pitchfork Music Festival in Paris.

Released at the end of 2020, THE ANGEL YOU DON’T KNOW including singles ‘JUMPING SHIP‘ ft. Kojey Radical and Cruel Santino‘FANCY’, ‘LEAVE ME ALONE‘ and ‘SAD GIRLZ LUV MONEY (FEAT. MOLIY) has catapulted Amaarae from a ‘one to watch’ to a global breakthrough artist. Streamed over 31.8M times, this genre blending project that saw her strive to colour outside of the afro-pop parameters and re-define for herself what it means to create African music has been recognised and praised across the board from The Guardian (Cover Star for 1st Jan 2021 G2 Film & Music issue)Pitchfork (Best New Music), The FACEHighsnobietyMixmagi-DElleThe Line Of Best FitDazedThe FADER, DJ Target, Sian Anderson and more. 2021 has seen her tipped as Apple Music’s Africa Rising Artist 2021 and BET Amplified International Artist of the Month for February 2021 as well as the Times Square Billboard Cover Star for her Spotify playlist takeover for Black History Month – ‘Black to the Future’. Most recently, Amaarae was selected by Amazon Music as one of their Ones To Watch for 2022.

14-track first opusTAYDK is a sonic and visual testament to Amaarae’s love for music and art, and her capabilities as an artist featuring family and friends alike including Kojey Radical, Cruel SantinoOdunsi (The Engine), KZ, Ckay, Moliy, Maesu and more. Sometimes sexy, sometimes anarchist, sometimes sad and other times playful, this experimental project that sees her push her personal boundaries both sonically and visually with faster tempos, ballsier lyrics and edgier textures and tones speaks volumes on the talent of an artist in their sonic prime. Where tracks like ‘D*A*N*G*E*R*O*U*S*’ and ‘CRAZY WURLD’ are pop-punk anthems, ‘3AM’ mixes Progressive HouseAfrobeats and Psychedelic Disco, the Kojey Radical and Santi assisted ‘JUMPING SHIP‘ is inspired by the Baile Funk and Garage records of the early 2000s and ‘HELLZ ANGEL’pays homage to and samples Hi-Posi’s Japanese Club Pop Hit “Bokude Haritai”. ‘SAD GIRLS LOVE MONEY’ is a killer Afro-Pop take on amapiano and ‘FANTASY’ is Amaarae’s Neo-Latin/R&B take on records like Product G&B’s “Cluck Cluck” or “Maria”.

Bronx-born and raised between Accra in Ghana, AtlantaGeorgia and Hackettstown, New Jersey, Amaarae’s cross-cultural experience is the driving force behind her deeply experimental ethos. Embraced and endorsed by the exciting melting pot of exuberant creativity that is Nigeria’s Alté scene, Amaarae is all about female empowerment and puts her West African heritage and influences at the core of everything she does – whilst challenging the views on gender norms, female sexuality, artistic self expression and more.

Fast becoming one of the world’s most exciting artists garnering a cult following on the African continent and throughout the diaspora, Amaarae has played shows in LagosLondonLos Angeles and New York; and collaborated with the likes of Cruel Santino on ‘Rapid Fire‘, Stonebwoy on ‘Pepper Dem’ and Kojey Radical on his 2019 EP Cashmere Tears via the single ‘Sugar’. The release of her debut EP Passionfruit Summers in 2017 and following singles including the sexy alternative R&B jam ‘Like It‘, the groovy Afro-disco inspired ‘Spend Some Time ft Wande Coal‘ and a powerful feature on Odunsi‘s album cut ‘body count‘, began this journey of fearless self expression where TAYDK picks it up and refines it.
A songwriter, singer, producer and engineer, Amaarae is DIY to the core. From selling mixtapes to her highschool classmates, to throwing herself into learning the ins and outs of the production and engineering process and founding her own independent record label – the Ghana based Golden Child Entertainment Ltd – Amaarae is a rare, authentic and inspiring talent.
