TOMS Sound & Music – situated at Durban North’s premier community centre, Park Boulevard, will be hosting internationally renowned Texan guitar virtuoso and songwriter Rodney Branigan and South African Folk Roots guitarist Nibs van der Spuy.
Rodney Branigan has wholly redefined what it is to be a world class performer in the 21st Century. He has done this by creating his own genre, and is capable of blending rock, folk flamenco, madrigal, classical, bluegrass and jazz and it works. He is capable of playing three instruments at once, two guitars (a 12 string and 6 string) as well as a tambourine, making him a true musician with extraordinary talent.
Then there is Nibs, one of the most extraordinary and exciting world acoustic guitarists to come out of South Africa. Raised in Kwazulu-Natal, growing up listening to The Beatles and learning first hand from traditional Zulu Maskandi guitarists, he quickly soaked up a rich tapestry of his close surroundings and has formulated a truly consummate and original sound.
When two artists from such different worlds come together with a common goal of stretching their creative boundaries, there is sure to be pure musical magic.
Don’t miss them on Tuesday, October 15th at 6pm – Shop A, Park Boulevard Centre, 11 Browns Drift Rd, Durban North during this intimate tour of KwaZulu-Natal.
