A 4.6 magnitude earthquake hit Johannesburg in the early hours of Friday morning, the US Geological Survey said on its website.
Another earthquake has struck South Africa, this one measuring 4.6 on the Richter Scale, as reported by the US Geological Survey.
The quake struck around 12km (7.5 miles) west of Orange Farm (south of Johannesburg) in Gauteng, a township south of Johannesburg.
The quake, which happened around 1am, is the second in South Africa in less than three weeks.
The quake which happened early hour of today has been recorded closer to Johannesburg than that of the 5.5 magnitude Orkney quake that occurred 17 days ago. Orkney lies in the North West province, approximately 170km (106 miles) south west of Johannesburg, whereas Orange Farm lies approximately 45 km (28 miles) south of the city.
On August 5, a 31-year-old man was killed in a mining village near Orkney, North West when the 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck the region.
At least 34 miners were injured by the earthquake, and more than 600 houses were damaged.
