Featuring an all-star roster of names from across the globe including Miraa May, ENNY, JELEEL!, Tay Iwar & Nigerian rap superstar ODUMODUBLVCK to name a few, At LEasT wE tRIED serves as a very special remix project of her startling debut EP Anger Management which was written, produced and sung by Bloody herself.
It’s been a truly incredible last few months for the Lagos-based visionary. Since the release of Anger Management in June of this year, she’s racked up over 10 million streams across the project, charted in the Top #5 R&B Charts on Apple Music in five countries, been nominated for Rookie of the Year at Nigeria’s Headie Awards, won nods from the likes of Tems, Ayra Starr & Amaarae and released two gorgeous music videos from the EP directed by Alté figurehead Cruel Santino. With her recent collaboration with ODUMODUBLVCK, BLOOD ON THE DANCEFLOOR, currently #1 across Nigeria and in the top 50 on Spotify UK’s viral chart, Bloody shut down Lagos over the weekend for a very special surprise event including many of the EP’s Nigeria-based features such as Candy Bleakz, ODUMODU, Fave & Majeeed.
A fully formed artist with a singular creative and sonic vision, Bloody Civilian’s ascension over the past twelve months has been nothing short of tremendous. Since her debut single How To Kill A Man dropped late last year, she’s won acclaim from the likes of i-D, NME, The Fader, British Vogue, Gal-Dem, Clash, The Face, DORK, Mixtape Madness & Hypebeast, been heavily supported across BBC 1Xtra & KISS FRESH, was Amazon’s Breakthrough Artist of the Month and charted across Nigeria’s Top 100 (Turntable Charts). Along the way, she also released the track Wake Up which featured Rema and was included on the Black Panther Wakanda Forever soundtrack. In celebration of the film and West African music, Bloody Civilian was also heavily included in the Disney+ documentary Voices Rising: The Music of Wakanda Forever.
