Actress and TV presenter Boity Thulo has confirmed that she is indeed a trained sangoma. The actress said she heeded to her ancestral call to become a traditional healer even though she might not practice it.
Boity made the startling confession after Sunday World spotted her wearing sangoma beads while walking the red carpet at the South African Music Awards (Samas) in Durban last week.
The Club 808 presenter was also overheard by our sources telling her friends that she had completed her training to become a traditional healer.
“Yes I did go thwasa but I’m not going to practise as a sangoma. This is a very sensitive matter that I don’t want to talk about in the media. It’s a personal matter and way too deep to be reduced into a celebrity gossip in the newspaper. It’s a secret. It’s so much deeper,” said the Rockville actress.
She actress finally opened up about her little secret weeks after she showed up on her TV show dressed in complete sangoma attire. Boity was faced with lots of criticism afterwards and even ruffled feathers with some culturalists for wearing the sacred sangoma outfit while on set of the e.tv music show.
