Mzansi’s style icon, Bonang Matheba will be hosting the inaugural South African of the Year (SATY) Awards to be held on 6th September at Sandton Convention Centre.
The SATY award winners will be announced at a glittering gala event with a star-studded line-up of International artists which includes Nicole Scherzinger of Pussycat Dolls fame and X factor finalist British singer songwriter Ella Henderson.
There will also be a host of top South African musical stars including Lira, Mafikizolo, Zahara, MiCASA and Junior Mambazo to name a few.
South African of the Year Awards celebrates extraordinary South Africans from various fields along with five lifetime achievement awards to South Africans who, during their lifetimes, have made contributions of outstanding significance in their fields.
The award provides special recognition to individuals who have provided outstanding service and worked for welfare of the society over a sustained period of years. They will each be awarded a cash prize of R50 000. The lifetime achievement recipients this year are; George Bizos, Richard Maponya, Andrew Mokete Mlangeni, Gertrude Shope and Sophia Theresa Williams-de Bruyn.
Other categories in this year’s awards include; Trendsetting Celebrity of the Year, Campaign of the Year, Sportsperson of the Year, Businessperson of the Year, Spirit of Humanity Award, Young South African of the Year and the big one of South African of the Year
