Caity Baser has today released her highly-anticipated new single ‘X&Y’, out now via Chosen Music/EMI Records. The song, written by Baser, tells the story of a recent breakup and sees Caity refuse to take back her ex as she lays bare all his shortcomings. The track fuses 60s pop & doo-wop sounds with crisp beats and horns courtesy of hitmaking production duo Future Cut – longstanding collaborators of Caity’s – and acclaimed producer Digital Farm Animals.
Of the song, Caity says: “This song is all about saying fuck you to the people that think they were your ex but because they did you so dirty, they’re not even classed as that anymore. They’re just your ‘WHY’ – like why the frick did I go there.” The release of ‘X&Y’ follows the huge success of Caity’s previous single, ‘Friendly Sex’ – an unexpected viral hit for the 20 year old singer from Southampton, UK. She celebrated the release of the single with a sold-out performance at London venue The Grace, shortly before announcing her biggest headline shows to date, at London’s O2 Islington and Manchester’s Academy 2 – both of which also sold out within minutes.
