Johannesburg, South Africa, 8 June 2023 – Canon South Africa today announces a refresh to its award-winning range of imageRUNNER and imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX multifunction and single function devices. Through this expanded portfolio, Canon South Africa can deliver a broader, stronger offering to its customers with improvements such as enhanced security features, lower energy consumption and reduced polystyrene waste in packaging. Designed to support the evolving needs of businesses, the imageRUNNER and imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX printers also include collaboration tools for hybrid working.
Reducing environmental impact
According to Frederick Moller, Business Development Manager, Workspace at Canon South Africa, “The portfolio refresh has been designed to have reduced environmental impact – including a reduction of Typical Electricity Consumption (TEC) values of up to 16% compared to previous models. Devices and parts have also been designed to last longer – helping our customers maximise uptime, whilst reducing service visits and impact on the environment. Additionally, the polystyrene packaging previously used has been reduced and replaced with recyclable cardboard to limit single-use waste.”
Secure at every stage
The updated imageRUNNER and imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX printers are equipped with device, data and network protection for security at every stage of the document lifecycle. The latest security firmware offers end-to-end protection and both ranges support encrypted file sharing, featuring TLS1.3, WPA3 & SMB 3.1.1 support, whilst the imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX products are armed with FIPS 140-3* for certified encryption performance.
All devices in the updated portfolio also include two-factor authentication, in addition to incorporating stricter password rules for added protection. To ensure protection from malicious cyber-attacks, businesses can gain visibility thanks to secure status visualisation. The refreshed product ranges are also supported by a Security Settings Navigator utility which allows users to apply optimum settings required for different network environments, without the need for a security specialist.
Productivity and collaboration for hybrid working
Canon’s devices enable businesses to optimise remote and hybrid working, thanks to uniFLOW Online. This award-winning cloud print solution allows users to work smarter and faster, whilst the entire print environment can be managed through the cloud by controlling access and enhancing document security.
For additional productivity, the imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 8900 series offers a comprehensive range of finishing options to produce professional quality output. This allows businesses to bring some production capabilities for marketing collateral or business communications in-house, with full control over their documents.
Marc Bory, Vice President, Head of DP&S Marketing and Innovation, at Canon Europe adds that, “As the working world continues to evolve, so must the technology that supports it. The updates to our leading imageRUNNER and imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX ranges help to expand our portfolio – providing not only a secure and connected means of sharing and accessing documents, but also progress towards reducing CO2 emissions and energy consumption. With many businesses permanently adopting a hybrid-working model, it is also crucial to ensure that their processes are supported by the best possible technology for collaboration.
Our quality, reliable devices are at the heart of our Digital Transformation Services ecosystem – a framework we use to create bespoke packages of hardware, software and services that enable our customers to take their digital transformation strategy to the next level.”
