Canon South Africa delivers professional printing excellence for Bidvest Data
Cape Town, 29 August 2023 – Bidvest Data recently chose Canon South Africa printers and services to help the communication solutions company produce a new range of high-quality educational books. Bidvest Data needed a partner that was experienced, professional, price-conscious, and technically driven, which is why the team approached Canon South Africa. The Canon ColorStream 8160 continuous feed inkjet printer was identified as the perfect product for the job.
“Our relationship with Bidvest Data goes back more than 10 years,” says Lee-Ann Saunders Key Account Manager at Canon South Africa. “We enjoy working together and were thrilled to land the tender on this particular project. There is currently a fleet of 11 Canon devices in operation at the Bidvest Data site in Cape Town, with the newest acquisition being the ColorStream 8160. This means Bidvest Data is Canon South Africa’s largest commercial site.”

Given the long-standing and close working relationship between Canon South Africa and Bidvest Data, the project was destined to be a success. The excellent teamwork between the two entities is what made the project unique.

To ensure seamless delivery, one of Canon’s specialist installation technicians from Germany led the shipping and installation process, which was professional and ahead of schedule. Canon also sent a trainer from Germany to train six of Bidvest Data’s operators, covering both theory and practical skills. In this and many other ways, Canon went above and beyond to provide Bidvest Data with an efficient, attentive experience, thereby solidifying the partnership even further.
An outstanding history of ColorStream success
The Canon ColorStream product is a significant player in the market. It’s been the global number one web-fed inkjet printer for 11 consecutive years. There are approximately 1,600 installations worldwide, with more than 40% of customers installing more than one system. In terms of global distribution in specific target markets, the ColorStream represents 50% of Business Communications and 18% in Books. The ColorStream 8000 series is designed to maximise performance and increase output volumes by delivering superior quality at up to 160 m/min. This makes the product the ideal fit for Bidvest Data’s ambitious educational goals.
