Africa’s Grandest Gathering
21st annual celebration of jazz to take place in March 2020
The Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF) is proud to announce the dates for the highly anticipated 2020 event. This star-studded festival will see some of the world’s most acclaimed musicians take to the stage to celebrate 21 years of Africa’s Grandest Gathering.
The award-winning Cape Town International Jazz Festival will be celebrating 21 years of bringing the best of jazz to the Mother City, on 27 and 28 March 2020 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).
Come and experience 21 years of Jazz Excellence:
- The CTIJF has brought the greatest names in jazz and jazz-related music to the Mother City, from both South Africa and internationally, having hosted 2649 musicians over the past 20 years of the festival. In celebration of this milestone year, the 2020 CTIJF promises an unforgettable line-up of stellar local and international artists.
- Alongside world-class performances, the CTIJF has also allowed the next generation of talent to grow through their robust Sustainable Training and Development programme. Through the programme, 2451 learners have participated in the Music and Careers workshops and 4000 students have attended the Master Classes, allowing them to tap into the knowledge of musical legends at the CTIJF, over the last 13 years.
- In the spirit of making the world’s finest jazz accessible to the Cape Town community, the CTIJF has held its annual Free Community Concert for the public for the last 12 years. To date, over 162 000 people have experienced the rich legacy of jazz music at these concerts, held on Greenmarket Square.
With an economic contribution of almost R700 million in 2019, the impact of the festival reaches far beyond the music industry, explains Festival Director Billy Domingo.
“Over 20 unforgettable years, we have brought artists of only the highest calibre to Cape Town.
