Capegate to Host CANSA Shavathon:Show Your Support with ‘Fearless Hair to Show You Care’

Must read

Get ready to make a bold statement of support at the CANSA Shavathon, returning to Capegate Shopping Centre on Saturday, 1 and Sunday, 2 March 2025. This vibrant, community-driven event invites people of all ages to shave, spray, or donate their hair in a powerful act of solidarity with cancer survivors. Whether you’re going all in with a fresh shave or adding a splash of colour, every action helps raise awareness and much-needed funds for cancer research and patient support.

Under this year’s inspiring theme, ‘Fearless Hair to Show You Care’, the event highlights the courage of those battling cancer and encourages participants to make a bold statement of support. Whether through a daring shave, a splash of vibrant colour, or a meaningful hair donation, every contribution makes a difference.

“For over 20 years, the CANSA Shavathon has provided a platform for people to come together and make a real impact,” says Zoë Enslin, Marketing Manager at Capegate Shopping Centre. “We are honoured to be a part of this incredible movement and look forward to seeing our community come out in full force to support those affected by cancer.”

Make Your Mark

The CANSA Shavathon at Capegate will be open from 9am to 3pm on both days. Participation is simple and affordable:

  • Adults: R50 per person
  • Children under 12 years old: R25 per child

All proceeds go directly to the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA), helping fund cancer research, education, and patient support services.

More Than Just a Hairstyle

The CANSA Shavathon is more than a fundraiser, it’s a symbol of strength, unity, and compassion. It is a chance for individuals, families, and businesses to come together and show their commitment to fighting cancer. Every shave, spray, and donation send a message of encouragement to those facing the battle of their lives.

“Our goal is to support an event that not only raises funds but also raises awareness,” Enslin continues. “We encourage everyone to participate, whether by taking part themselves or by spreading the word. Let’s make this year’s Shavathon the biggest one yet!”

Capegate Shopping Centre invites shoppers, businesses, schools, and community groups to join the cause. Whatever you choose to do… go bald, get creative with colour, or make a donation… your support is invaluable.
