Catch up with Gospel artist Abdias San Seth

Must read

Adorned Beyond caught up with gospel artist, celebrity stylist, youth pastor, and father Abdias San Seth. A man that is distinctively graced, dynamic in his being and peculiarity.

Of course, we bombarded him with a million questions, trying to get into his head to discover what has attributed to his acclaim.

With ease and finesse, he answered us leaving nothing to spare.

Have a look below.

Tell readers about yourself.

My name is Abdias San Seth, a father, songwriter, singer, and fashionista. Very Thematic, Skillful and a self-made celebrity stylist.

Tell us about your favorite childhood memory.

My father passed away when I was 3 years old but I have memories etched in my heart of us going on motorbike rides with him. My siblings would happily sing along “Kiteba ke denda na moto eh!” meaning happily jumping on the motorbike.

What is your favorite achievement to date?

My favorite achievement was after trying and failing multiple times I eventually recorded the video of my debut single “Make a way” after 15 years of embracing music as a ministry.

The debut single was aired on commercial television shows in the country like 1Gospel, TBN Africa and AMI TV amongst others. The joy and sense of fulfillment was and still is inexplainable.

Why did you decide to choose the career that you are in?

I didn’t choose music, I believe it chose me. I started singing at a young age and having boldness to stand in front of thousands of people throughout the years has been amazing for me because I’ve always been timid.

I ran away from the call of God for more than a decade until it caught up with me in 2002. I failed my first year in medicine in varsity in DRC /Kinshasa because of pursuing music more.

Do you think the South African music industry is conducive to start-up musicians?

Just like any country across the globe, South Africa is for start-up musicians, for the reason that there are already credible institutions already in place in the country to support local artists.

However no upcoming musician finds it easy in their debut, I guess its because one has to “pay the price before entering paradise

We saw your debut single which has been well received throughout the country, please tell us a bit about that journey.

I already gave up on music more than once, before gathering the courage and enthusiasm to give it another try – this time with a message based on a reminder from the Lord. Whilst I was in my personal prayer and fasting session, I asked God to tell me what to do since I was stuck, nothing seemed to work (I turned this into a prayer petition). Recording the debut single took me approximately 9 months and another 2 months in anticipation of the video. That was another frustrating period of waiting, but I had no choice BUT to follow and obey the voice of the Lord.

What advice do you have for anyone that wants to do what you do?

I still consider myself an upcoming Gospel Artist and one who has a lot to learn in the industry. But the little experience I’ve gained whilst both trying and watching others make it has taught me how one needs both “Patience and Persistence” to make it. Those who quit while others choose to offer cooking, deprive themselves of joining them later to eat supper when it is ready. Let any of my peers accept “paying the price” before entering their “paradise” it is worth it.
