Face For Radio @ Baxter Theatre, 22 August – 9 September 2017

One of Cape Town’s favourite comedians is set to return to the Baxter Theatre this August in The Mother City, for a three-week run with a brand new dose of comedy and laughter.

Cape Town funnyman and Good Hope FM radio presenter Dalin Oliver, is back with a few more lessons in his brand new stand-up comedy show, Face For Radio .

The new highly-anticipated comedy show from Dalin, comes on the back end of the sold out success of his début one-man show – I Came, I Taught, I Left – which was directed by Stuart Taylor.

The 28-year-old comedian from Retreat in The Mother City, has managed to capture audiences with his clean cut energetic brand of comedy. Career highlights include opening for industry stalwarts Stuart Taylor, Riaad Moosa, Barry Hilton and Nik Rabinowitz as well as being one of the featured acts on the series: “Comedy Central Presents”.

His one-man show, I Came, I Taught, I Left, has been a huge success since its début with return runs taking place at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown in 2014 until 2016, where he performed to full houses and received rave reviews. As a result, Dalin’s final run of the show in 2016 was billed as one of the top 30 grossing productions at the Fringe Festival in Grahamstown.

After the show sold out within 24 hours of its first six-night run at the Baxter Theatre in 2015, Dalin performed to a further sold out 14-show run in 2016 of I Came, I Taught, I Left – before travelling to the Friendly City of Port Elizabeth where it sold out for four nights at the PE Opera House.

Face For Radio, which has Stuart Taylor back in the director’s chair, sees Dalin confessing about his struggles to adapt to the concept of “adulting” – 10 years after matriculating. No one “warned him about it”, says Dalin.

“My Life Orientation teacher at school forgot to tell me that I’d have to pay tax, parallel park in on-common traffic and that data would be this expensive,” he admits.

Dalin shares that the new comedy show will see a different and more mature side to the comedians dose of comedy – something which his audiences haven’t experienced yet in 2016.

“One day while playing PokemonGo, I realised it was time to grow up. (Actually, my mom told me that if I don’t get off my phone and clean my room, I’ll never find a girlfriend.) This was the wake-up call I needed to get my act together,” he admits.

“Since my last show on stage my friendships and relationships have changed. My friends are getting married and going to Stodels on weekends while I’m figuring out that Tinder is not that beneficial when you are staying at home with your parents.”

While preparing for Face For Radio, 2017 is turning out to be an extremely busy and career-growing year for the talented comedian and radio presenter.

Earlier in May this year, Dalin and fellow comedian Carl Weber landed the first-ever comedy-themed radio show on popular Cape Town radio station Good Hope FM. This August, Dalin is also set to make his big screen début as one of the lead roles in his first feature film, Finders Keepers – a South African comedy feature directed by Maynard Kraak.

The movie is set to release in cinemas nationwide on August 18th. To compliment his big screen début, Dalin is also one of the featured acts at this year’s Jive Cape Town Funny Festival, taking place from July until August this year.

So what can Cape Town audiences expect from the new comedy show? “Pop around to hear his stories. If you don’t, I’ll only have family members attending and they would want complimentary tickets. We don’t want that now do we?”
