[Johannesburg, South Africa – July 12, 2024] – South African artist Dan Duminy is back with his latest single, ‘You Don’t Know Me,’ marking a bold statement of self-expression and authenticity. The inspiration behind ‘You Don’t Know Me’ is rooted in Duminy’s desire to create music that resonates deeply with listeners. “I wanted to write a song that people can relate to, coming from a genuine place. It’s about highlighting that people may think they know you, but they actually don’t. Only a select few close friends and family really know the real you,” says Duminy.

Duminy collaborated with his best friend Jordan James on this single, bringing together their shared vision and musical synergy. Describing his current sound, Duminy notes, “It’s different and definitely in a pop space. It’s hard to pinpoint and describe my sound, but I definitely think it’s something different.”
Having recently gone independent, Duminy is relishing the freedom and control this new phase affords him. “The most empowering thing about being independent is knowing that I am in full control of whatever I’m doing, from the creative side to the business side. I love being able to release music when I want and give my fans more of what they love,” he shares.
Reflecting on his journey in the music industry, Duminy finds the creative process to be the most rewarding aspect. “I love being creative and exploring my creativity through music. It has allowed me to meet some of the best people I’ve ever met,” he says. However, he acknowledges that the most challenging part is the patience required to navigate the industry’s ups and downs. “The most challenging part would definitely be the waiting game and having patience and perseverance to keep pushing and keep working. But I keep striving to be the best version of myself and keep making the best music that I can.”
‘You Don’t Know Me’ is a precursor to more exciting releases from Duminy. While working on an album over the past few years, he hints at the possibility of an EP featuring songs that didn’t make the album. “Depending on how the next few singles perform, we might see an EP this year, but it’s more likely early next year. There’s definitely a lot more music to come in 2024,” Duminy reveals.
