Aussie music phenomenon Dean Lewis has shared the latest preview of his highly anticipated third album, with the release of his new single, ‘All I Ever Wanted’. The single comes following a string of critically acclaimed releases over the last year.

Equally moving and resonant in both its composition and its message, ‘All I Ever Wanted’ is the embodiment of the classic sliding doors moment, with Dean looking to his past when he was faced with the choice of pursuing a serious relationship or a career in music.

Against a tender acoustic introduction, Dean remembers this heartbreak with raw vulnerability: “All my mistakes, oh I took you for granted, I was looking for something when I already had it”. With a delicate vibrato in his voice and a powerful crescendo, ‘All I Ever Wanted’ is as fragile as it is striking, and as personal to Dean as it is relatable to his wider audience.

Reflecting on its inspiration, Dean admits there’s a deep sense of regret and naivety associated with the missed opportunities the track focuses on; “‘All I Ever Wanted’ is about when you realise that what you had at the start with someone before things got crazy and blew up was great, and the grass isn’t always greener. The thing that I had with this girl before I pursued my dreams, she was everything I ever wanted, I just didn’t realise it at the time. I needed to go and try and make something of myself, and you get to that place where you realise that she was all I ever wanted, and I wish I could go back.”

‘All I Ever Wanted’ was written and recorded in Los Angeles and co-produced by Dean and acclaimed duo Afterhrs (Maroon 5, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson), and the release is also accompanied with an official music video, shot in the stunning Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah by his brother and long time visual collaborator, Sean Loaney. The new single is the latest in Dean’s already-impressive catalogue, following on from the arrival of ‘Memories’ back in February. Since its release, ‘Memories’ has already achieved some impressive milestones, including generating 35 million streams, having been added to Hot Hits Australia, and hitting the Top 25 on the AU Radio Chart, and Top 20 on the AU Shazam chart.

With singles such as ‘In A Perfect World’, ‘Trust Me Mate’, and a collaboration with Ruth B. on her single, ’28’, arriving across the last year, Dean is continuing the stellar momentum which has seen him accrue more than 6.3 million album and EP sales, more than 12.5 billion streams, and a massive global fanbase of over 7 million social followers (including 3.3 million on Tik Tok and 2 million on YouTube).

Following a massive year in 2023 which saw Dean play more than 100 shows across Australia, Europe, and the US, he recently wrapped up a series of global tour dates, including a support slot for AJR Brothers on their US arena tour, and for James Arthur during his UK arena tour.
