Deja Vu is the beautiful new single by SA singer-songwriter Nitzsche. Her debut release hits the market with a bang: the music video stars award-winning actor Neels van Jaarsveld (Bang Bang Club, Fynskrif, Binnelanders, Known Gods).

Born in Sabie, Nitzsche now lives in Cape Town. The song is about heartbreak and lost love.
She explains how the song came to be: “I met a friend, he motivated me so much about chasing my dreams and to write and perform. I made contact with Kyle Petersen (award-winning producer, pianist). In our first session I decided to read to Kyle the first 5 lines of the song ‘Déjà vu’ that I wrote after going through a breakup. We started working on the song from the first session and managed to finish the song within 5 sessions. Kyle was part of the song writing, he listened to my story and also played a big part in writing. The name ‘Déjà vu’ got stuck after he played me a Billie Eilish song with the words ‘Déjà vu’ in it. I told Kyle I wanted these words in the song… which ended up being the name of my first single.
Writing music has always been her passion: “From a young age I loved to sing, but I always had this habit of giving up when I didn’t feel good enough, and sometimes about my own insecurities. But since I grew older I managed to learn a lot about myself and I still am learning every day and also figured – after many warnings – that you can’t impress everybody, so I started singing again, recorded covers on my Scarlett studio and posted it on Instagram and YouTube. It’s nice to hear what other people think. This journey has been amazing, and to see how many people wanted to be involved and part of my dream becoming a reality has been mind blowing. I am truly thankful for everybody being supportive!”
