DJ Oskido left his fans hanging at the Mpumalanga Comes Alive festival in Mbombela at the weekend.
DJ Oskido was at the Mpumalanga Comes Alive festival in Mbombela over the weekend, where he played only one song and left due to poor sound quality.
Leaving his fans wondering after he was been seen at the deck but the DJ said he was never at the event due to other commitments.
Organisers confirmed that he was billed to perform and was indeed there.
“I was not at that event in Mpumalanga. I was supposed to be there, but I had other commitments,” said Oskido (real name Oscar Mdlongwa).
Ayanda Sotshisa, the event’s publicist, said poor sound quality was a problem throughout the gig.
“We experienced sound problems.
“We didn’t have enough fans to cool the sound [equipment] after hosting the pre-party the day before.”
Sotshisa said the event had to go on without Oskido.
“We wanted to make sure that the patrons enjoy what they were there for, by making sure the event goes on,” he said.
Performance poet and singer Busiswa Gqulu, who is signed to Oskido’s record label, Kalawa Jazmee, confirmed that she was booked separately for the same event.
“Yes, there were some sound issues like the volume, but I enjoyed my performance,” said the Ngoku hitmaker.
Queen of house Bucie Nqwiliso said travelling with her sound engineer saved her performance.
“The volume was an issue, but the microphone wasn’t that bad because my sound engineer was there.
“At the end of the day, I have to give people what they paid for,” she said.
DJ Sbu said: “I heard from people that there were sound issues. I was the last to perform and I didn’t experience any sound issues by then.”
The DJ, who was arrested for speeding in Pretoria last week, was spotted by the Sunday World team speaking to Oskido in the parking lot.
Apparently Cassper Nyovest, DJ Fistoz and Thebe didn’t perform at the event. “They were replaced by Riky Rick, L-Tido and Maggz because they had other commitments,” said Sotshisa.
Other artists who performed at the event were DJ Sumbody, Professor, Mdu Masilela and DJ Vetkuk vs Mahoota.
