Mrs SA 2024 semi-finalist ranks
The Dallmayr Mrs. South Africa’s class of 2024 has been officially unveiled. Among the semi-finalists for 2024 is Cape Town’s very own Kim-Lee Ricketts. She wears multiple hats as an Industrial Psychologist, Artist Manager, Fashion Designer, and Public Speaker. Kim-Lee is deeply passionate about people development, as well as youth and women empowerment. She firmly believes in the importance of knowledge sharing and skill transfer, utilising her platform to foster positive change.
Kim-Lee Ricketts officially set off on her Mrs South Africa journey on Friday, 2 February 2024, during the pageant’s National Public Casting, held at the Clearwater Mall in Roodepoort, Gauteng.
She shared her exhilaration upon being announced as a semi-finalist, describing the moment as overwhelming and deeply humbling: “I feel immensely grateful for the judges’ recognition of something special within me. This recognition resonates with me in a way that words cannot fully capture,” says Kim-Lee.
She is looking forward to the journey ahead, particularly the opportunity to connect with other exceptional contestants, which she believes will enrich the experience with joy and a sense of camaraderie.
Being named a semi-finalist for Kim-Lee Ricketts is more than a personal triumph; it’s a pivotal platform that encourages her to step into the spotlight with confidence, inspiring her to further develop her skills and leverage this visibility to take her community development initiatives to new levels. Kim-Lee sees this recognition not just as a personal accolade but as a chance to make a meaningful impact, driven by passion and purpose.
Dallmayr Mrs South Africa is a pageant and female empowerment programme designed to unleash participants’ hidden potential by teaching them valuable skills, such as leadership, financial competence, sponsorship management, communication, personal branding, and media management.
“The goal is to take women out of their comfort zones and have them rethink who they are and what they want out of life. We help them face their fears, find their purpose, and discover the strength and abilities they held inside all along,” explains Joani Johnson, CEO of Mrs South Africa.
Driven by purpose
Kim-Lee Ricketts recalls her introduction to the Dallmayr Mrs. South Africa competition during a Women’s networking brunch, where she met former contestants. Their stories and encouragement spurred her decision to enter. She saw the competition as a chance to gain deeper self-knowledge, challenge herself, and connect with empowered women, aiming to inspire and promote growth both personally and within her community.
“As a Mrs. South Africa semi-finalist, I’m eager to blend my experiences into a powerful story of empowerment. I aim to use my voice, insight, and entrepreneurial drive to make a meaningful impact – one that uplifts, inspires, and fosters lasting positive change,” Kim-Lee states.
“Beyond the competition, I plan to extend my impact through various initiatives, including career fairs, motivational speaking, workshops, and feeding programs, to catalyse change that echoes beyond the competition,” she elaborates.
Johnson notes that the class of 2024 is shaping up to be a formidable, influential group of women. “We received the most ever entries this year, beginning in November 2023 and persisting into the week leading up to the National Public Casting, which speaks to the incredible reputation that Mrs South Africa has as a result of the value we offer to all of our participants. This is truly a life transformation journey that seeks to give our contestants the tools, knowledge, and support they need to pursue their dreams, and guide them in realising their full potential as forces for good.
“We were very excited by the strength and diversity of this years’ applicants, and the judges certainly had their work cut out for them in selecting the 2024 semi-finalists from such a large and inspiring group.”
Kim-Lee Ricketts has already joined in on a jam-packed weekend of empowerment workshops and development events held during the first Dallmayr Mrs South Africa Semi-Finalist Conference of the year on 3 and 4 February 2024, at Emperors Palace.
She will participate in many more workshops, photoshoots, media interviews, fitness challenges, sponsor events, and community projects in the days leading up to the Semi-Finals Judging Week and Showcase early in July, where the 2024 top 30 finalists will be announced.
