GEORGE Lebese ‘s “fake” girlfriend has came out guns blazing in defence of herself.
Vivian Rhandzu Shikwambana told Sunday World she was duped into believing that she was dating the Kaizer Chiefs left winger, George Lebese.
“It was early this year when I searched for George Lebese on Facebook. I bumped into many accounts that used his name and sent messages to all of them.
This one [fake account] replied and I told him how I love him as a fan,” explained the 21-year-old from Limpopo. “We started to ‘date’ after he told me that he likes me.
My friends thought I was insane, until I asked him to tag me on his posts so that people can see that I am not crazy.”
Shikwambana was under the impression that she had been “dating” the real Lebese (25) since February – despite them never meeting in the flesh – until she read an article last week about the Facebook Lebese being fake (“Chiefs’ player gets catfished”).
Shikwambana said “George” always had an excuse for getting out of a face-to-face encounter.
There was speculation that Shikwambana was responsible for the fake Lebese account and that she created it for attention.
But she maintained that she didn’t create the bogus account.
Last week Lebese denied knowing her.
