Must read

Empact Group, is deeply committed to making a positive impact on people and doing right by communities. This year in celebration of Mandela Day, Empact Group chose to join hands with, LIV Village. Following the theme of “LIV for a Child”, Empactors across Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Western Cape united in colourful harmony to make a difference in the lives of the children who make their home at LIV Village.

Empact Group CEO, Alan Quinn had this to say about the company’s involvement: “As part of Empact Group’s heartfelt ‘doing right by you’ philosophy, we have a long-standing partnership with LIV Villages. It has been incredible seeing them grow and open new centres over the years in new regions. This year we had the privilege as an organisation to be included in their activities on Mandela Day. We are committed to doing our bit so that that can continue helping children who come from destitute backgrounds by creating a haven for them.”

LIV Villages stand as transformative organisations that provide loving residential care for orphaned and vulnerable children. Their founding vision sought to create a nurturing environment where children can flourish, learn, and thrive, while also empowering surrounding communities through meaningful employment opportunities. Through a variety of heartfelt initiatives and programs, LIV Villages passionately strive to unlock the potential of every child and nurture them into future leaders.

This year in celebration of our nation’s most compassionate leader, Empact Group donated R200,000 to LIV Villages, specifically dedicated to Nelson Mandela Day initiatives. This generous contribution will be directed towards various projects across the LIV villages, enriching the lives of the children and fostering a deep sense of community and belonging.

In Gauteng, Empactors formed two teams of 50 and journeyed to LIV Village in Lanseria over two days. On the first day, they were warmly greeted by a member of the LIV Village leadership Le-anne Kleynhans, who provided an inspiring tour of the village, showcasing the incredible long-term foster care provided to orphaned children. Donning their work gear, Empactors sanded down and primed the palisade fence encircling the village property, preparing it for a vibrant makeover.

The second day saw a fresh wave of Empactors, including the Exco team and representatives from Empact Group’s shareholder, Thebe Investment Corporation, taking over the painting work with enthusiasm. Adding splashes of colour in LIV’s signature hues, the fence came alive, leaving a lasting impression on the village.

Le-anne Kleynhans expressed heartfelt gratitude to Empact Group for their selflessness and commitment in assisting them. The painted palisade gate, a first for the village, promises to be a heartwarming surprise for the children, leaving a lasting impact on their community.

In Durban, Empactors spent their day painting several homes within the village. Divided into groups of eight, they exceeded their mandate, beautifully painting not four but seven houses, showcasing their dedication and compassion.

Across the Western Cape, Empact volunteers embraced the mission wholeheartedly, despite adverse weather conditions. They participated in gardening, painting, cleaning, and sharing arts and culture activities with the children. The spirit of service shone brightly as they served lunch and filled the sand pit, bringing smiles to the young faces at LIV Village.

The story of LIV Villages is one filled with passion, vision, and transformation. In 1997, Tich Smith’s inspiring vision materialised into a loving home for orphaned and vulnerable children, offering them not just education and care but also spiritual guidance. LIV Village has also strived to uplift surrounding communities by creating vital employment opportunities for families to sustain themselves.

Today, the radiant footprint of LIV Village spans across South Africa, encompassing six villages and various community projects. Their unwavering mission remains focused on rescuing vulnerable children, restoring their lives, and nurturing them into future leaders, thus leaving a profound and enduring legacy for generations to come.

Empact Group’s collaboration with LIV Village for Nelson Mandela Day truly exemplifies their compassionate commitment to making a positive impact on society. By working together with LIV and empowering the children, Empact Group reinforces their belief in the potential of every child to shine brightly and thrive. The harmonious partnership with LIV Village continues to create a legacy of love, hope, and transformation for generations to come.
